Hi, my name is Frida Velasco and I'm 19 years old. I'm from Guadalajara, Mexico. I'm student at the École Nationale de Cirque du Montréal, which is one of the best circus schools in the world; great Cirque du Soleil artists and from other great companies made their studies here.
I do hand to hand as a flyer with my partner Michael Carter.
I'm going to start my second year of school but my stay here is in danger because of economic problems.
I have 2 brothers and 1 little sister, so my parents can't send me enough money. They have some debts because of the loans to pay the school and other times they sent me money to pay the rent. In this moment they are paying the interests so is difficult for them to send me money and even more to get another loan. Also the mexican peso is too weak against canadian dollar.
The school year costs 9180$ CAD, which consist in:
200$ CAD of the registration
7895$ CAD of the tuition fee
770$ CAD of the insurance for foreign students
315$ CAD for accesory expenses (student card, author rights, technology expenses and other services for students)
For my first year I got a scholarship of 2500$, my parents ask for a loan of 2500$ and I paid the rest with the money I gained in different jobs.
Since I got here I've been working to pay the rent and buy food. At first I worked in a Hotel the weekends, almost all the day, including the whole Christmas vacations. With this job I achieved to survive by myself some months and even to pay 1180$ of the school tuition. Then I worked in a restaurant but I had to quit to being able to participate in the show ''Candide'' of the Festival Montréal Complètement Cirque to pay the last 3000$ of the school tuition.
Now I'm working in Uber EATS but it's really not enough to pay food, rent and the school.
Because of the school schedule and that I don't speak french yet it's being difficult to find a good job.
It has been difficult to just focus on school because I have to been thinking in how I will get the money for all the necessities and the school tuition.
This year I got a scholarship of 4000$ so the rest I would have to pay it by myself. I will continue working and searching, but above all, studying and training because I wanna get better and become the best version of me.
That's why I'm asking for your help to finish paying my school, to make a little bit lighter my stay here during my studies.

Estoy por empezar mi segundo año de escuela pero mi estancia aquí corre peligro debido a problemas económicos.
Tengo dos hermanos y una hermana pequeña, por lo que mis papás no pueden mandarme dinero suficiente. Tienen algunas deudas adquiridas de los préstamos que pidieron para pagar una parte de la colegiatura de mi primer año y de otras veces que me enviaron dinero para la renta. En este momento ellos están pagando los intereses, así que es difícil para ellos de mandarme dinero, y aún más difícil adquirir otro préstamo. Además el peso mexicano tiene poco valor a comparación del dólar canadiense.
El costo del año escolar es de 9180$ CAD que consiste en:
200$ CAD de inscripción
7850$CAD de colegiatura
770$ CAD del seguro para estudiantes extranjeros
315$ CAD de costos adicionales (tarjeta de estudiante, derechos de autor, costes tecnológicos y otros servicios para estudiantes)
En mi primer año recibí una beca de 2500$, mis papás pidieron un préstamo de 2500$ y yo pagué el resto con dinero que gané en diferentes trabajos.
Desde que llegué aquí he trabajado para pagar mi renta y mi comida. Al principio trabajé en un hotel los fines de semana, durante casi todo el día, incluyendo todas las vacaciones de navidad. Con este trabajo fui capaz de sobrevivir por mi cuenta varios meses e incluso pagar 1180$ de mi colegiatura. Después trabajé en un restaurante pero tuve que dejarlo para poder participar en el show ''Candide'' del Festival Montréal Complètement Cirque para pagar los últimos 3000$ de mi colegiatura.
Ahora estoy trabajando en Uber EATS pero realmente no es suficiente para pagar comida, renta y la escuela.
Debido al horario de mi escuela y a que no aún no hablo muy bien francés es muy difícil encontrar un buen trabajo.
Ha sido muy difícil enfocarme sólo en la escuela porque tengo que pensar en cómo obtendré el dinero para todas mis necesidades y la colegiatura.
Este año recibí una beca de 4000$, entonces el resto lo tendré que pagar por mi cuenta. Continuaré trabajando y buscando, pero sobre todo, estudiando y entrenando porque quiero seguir mejorando y convertirme en la mejor versión de mí misma.
Por eso es que estoy pidiendo su ayuda, para terminar de pagar mi escuela y para hacer un poco más ligera mi estancia aquí durante mis estudios.
