Matt Baker Journey to Remission
Donation protected
- Organized by Victoria Baker, Kelly Cuteri & Jesse Gade.
I’m Victoria and my father Matthew Baker has been diagnosed with head and neck cancer. It's currently at stage 4 but the great news is that it is curable. The last thing we could have imagined is that treatment would come to a halt due to lacking funds since it’s just the two of us and he had to stop working for treatment. Before he can even start they’re requiring a feeding tube and a port. After the $850 monthly insurance premium, the share of cost for the port itself is $3500 and it’s looking like the feeding tube will be $750. Government assistance has denied us for any help due to their requirements. All of the donations will go to his initial surgeries and the rounds of chemo and radiation that will follow. Donations that exceed our needs will be donated to help others that find themselves in the same situation.
All my life I’ve watched my dad help those around him. He’s always shown selflessness and worked harder than anyone I’ve ever known. The 2008 recession hit him hard and from there it’s been an uphill battle. He went back to semi-driving and then to work for the county as an equipment operator to take care of his family. No matter how hard it got, he raised me to be the person I am today, with respect and honesty. People can always count on him to lend a hand, an ear to listen or a wild story that you’d swear was made up. Everyone has gone through something that has made them feel alone and knows that sometimes it takes a village.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact on my dad's journey towards remission. Knowing that we have a strong community all around the states rallying behind us, cheering my dad on, and sending well-wishes, will uplift our spirits and give us the strength to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Thank you for anything & everything,
