Help Martina hear

Martina was born prematurely at 23 weeks and 4 days, weighing only 540 grams.

She spent 233 days in NICU in Florence, Italy and went through 6 surgeries, several blood transfusions, 2 brain blees, hydrocephaly, ROP, NEC and more.

As many micro preemies, she is a fighter since the first day.

Today with 10 months old, she is having a pretty normal and healthy life at home with her parents and siblings, besides countless medical appointments.  

Every small step for her is a big milestone and she is doing pretty well. We only have to thank you for everything. All her outcomes could be very serious, but as we can tell, for now, she beats all the odds.

But (there's always a but) she is deaf.

And now we are starting a new journey through her hearing disability.

As she has a profound deafness from both ears, the use of hearing aids is essential for a good cognitive development and early intervention is the key for a good speech development.

Therefore, the sooner she begins to use the hearing aid, the better it will be for her development.
  
Unfortunately, we have a massive co-pay for the hearing aid. The total cost is $3900 euro and we must pay $2500 asap. It's not much, but in front of everything and all the costs we have with a preemie, its a considerable amount for us.

Our goal is to raise $2500 for her hearing aid and also pay for another hearing aid (starting at $1500) to other kid in need. 

Her doctor will help us to deliver this extra hearing aid to other kid who can not afford.

As she has a several hearing loss, from both hear, she needs 2 pediatric hearing aid from Phonak, essential for developing speech and language.

Nowadays, we know with the right technology no one or nothing can stop a deaf kid and as parents, we are ready to help her through and fight for her, starting now.

Martina nasceu extremamente prematura com apenas 23 semanas e 4 dias, no limite da viabilidade.

Logo nos primeiros meses ela enfrentou 6 cirurgias, diversas transfusões de sangue, duas hemorragias cerebrais, hidrocefalia, perfuração do intestino (NEC) e descolamento da retina (ROP).

Ela passou 8 meses na UTI neonatal e foi para casa 233 dias depois.

Hoje, com 10 meses de idade, ela tem uma vida normal em casa, com seus 2 irmãos, apesar da rotina puxada com diversos médicos, exames e acompanhamentos.

Ela é uma pequena guerreira e já venceu muitas batalhas.

Perto de todas as sequelas que ela poderia ter, ela está até agora indo muito bem e somos extremamente gratos por tudo.

Porém ela é surda. E agora estamos começando uma nova jornada através de seu problema de audição.

Como pais, nós sabemos que nos dias de hoje, com toda a tecnologia nada vai impedir ela de fazer o que quiser e no que depender de nós sua surdez não será impecílio para nada.

Porém, para que ela se desenvolva corretamente, principalmente no quesito de linguagem e aspecto cognitivo, ela precisa de um aparelho de audição que custa um valor bastante considerável, principalmente diante de todos os demais custos que temos com uma prematura extrema.

Seu aparelho custa $3900 euro e precisamos pagar $2500. Nossa idéia é levantar este dinheiro para ela e para mais uma criança que também precise e doar este segundo aparelho (que custa a partir de $1500) com a ajuda da sua médica que levará para a criança certa.
