Please help 94-year old Marcy get back on her feet…
After a year of being cared for by an unscrupulous woman, we’ve found out that Marcy is broke, behind on all her bills – including her rent and is in danger of being evicted. Please help us keep her living where she’s safe and well cared for.
The woman who took care of her systematically took money from Marcy’s account money and had her sign her car over to her…WTH??!!
When we tried to call social services and report this as elder abuse, we were told that since her doctors had deemed Marcy capable of decision-making, the caregiver claims that Marcy gave her the $ to help with her children and offered her the car since she couldn’t drive anymore could be legitimate and we'd likely not get anywhere trying to press the issue…??!!
Why would a person of sound mind give away all her money and not have any for food or rent?! This awful woman, when confronted, smiled and said “Marcy gave me those things”… (Many uncharitable words come to mind about this thief.)
Marcy has since been diagnosed with dementia and since she has but one elderly niece left, her friends are helping with her care decisions and we are trying to raise money to keep her where she is living now. We’ve known her for 20 years and she has been generous to the community and we hope she can get some back.
We’re not giving up on going after this woman but in the meantime, we desperately need to keep Marcy in her home first and so we’ve turned to GoFundMe. At minimum she needs $5600 to catch up on her rent and to pay all of her bills she would been over $30,000. This is a woman who worked hard for her whole life, served in the Navy during Korea and can make her future rent payments with her social security and veteran’s benefits. We just need to get her caught up. T
This may not seem as critical as some other fund raising efforts but giving a 94-year old woman comfort and dignity in her final years IS important.
Marcy is present enough to know that she’s been swindled and has cried too many times to us about it… It is heart breaking and we really want to help but none of us can single-handedly fund this.
Please help Marcy by making a donation – no amount is too small – and thank you in advance!
