The Swenson Foundation is raising money to support education for the non-profit organization "Mano & Mano" (Hand and Hand) located just outside Quito, Ecuador in a town called El Tingo. http://www.manoymano.org
Mano & Mano works with children, young people and families. Children of low income families are involved in an after-school program that provides creative education in a loving environment focused on Music, English, Computers, Cooking, and Soccer.
At it's core, Mano & Mano is a Christian foundation that shares Christian values - to encourage, help and build up different people who come through their doors. As an independent organization, Mano & Mano has many plans to help care and provide education for people but they need our support to make a positive lasting impact.
They have two pressing needs at the moment:
1. They need a decent industrial photo copier that provides learning materials and paper activities to the children. They need a photocopier that can turn out 5,000 pages per toner at the rough cost of 1 cent per page. Associated Cost: $960
2. The second issue centers around correcting a structural roof problem over the building's main room which is where the children have classes and teachers meet with parents. Associated Cost: $3,000
In addition, Mano & Mano is looking to raise $200 a month to enable them to offer places to 40 children at the cost of $1 a week per child to attend their after school program.
Every dollar counts so any amount you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated by the children and families of Mano & Mano!
