I am a black queer femme artist and activist, skin cancer survivor and breast cancer previvor. I need to raise $20,000 to pay for excision surgery to treat Stage IV Bowel Endometriosis.
Stage IV is the most severe stage of Endometriosis, and I feel it's effects on my life every day.
I struggle with chronic pain and fatigue every day, and some days can be much worse than others. Even with medications and treatments it triggers vestibular migraines, causing mobility issues and leaving me with often overwhelming fatigue. On the worst days, I am barely able to get out of bed. Due to the unpredictable nature of my symptoms I am unable to work, and have lost the ability to do many things I enjoy. It is hard to spend time with friends and loved ones or create the art that is central to my healing and self-expression. There is a good chance that this surgery will greatly improved those symptoms and give me my life back.
I have found a doctor who is competent in the specialized surgery necessary for my stage and type of endometriosis. Unfortunately, this doctor's fees are not covered by my insurance. I have struggled with this disease for years and tried every other treatment available. This surgery is my last hope for a manageable life. Thank you so much for your help!
Any funds received beyond the goal will be put towards rehabilitation after surgery, including physical therapy, adaptive equipment and pain managment treatments.

What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is tissue similar, but not identical, to the lining of the uterus that is found elsewhere in the body. This tissue creates lesions that may cause pain, inflammation, organ dysfunction and may lead to infertility. Endometriosis is most often found in the pelvis, but has also been found in the bladder, bowels, diaphragm, lungs, kidneys and even the brain. Endometriosis impacts approximately 1 in 10 individuals assigned female at birth.
