Lupie’s Cafe on Monroe Road is closed Thursday after a driver crashed into the front of the building overnight.
The wreck happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of Monroe Road. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Zakariya Azizy, 26, was issued a citation for hit-and-run after the wreck. The wreck damaged the front porch and entrance to the restaurant and the eatery will be closed until repairs can be made.
