Help Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre

Donation protected
Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre (the original Youth Theatre of Lichfield) was established in 1985 and has been producing high quality theatre in Lichfield for over 35 years. We've never asked before, but need your help!

As with all of the Arts and many other industries, the global pandemic has been absolutely devastating to our reserve funds. Unlike venues in the area, there was no arts funding for us. We have only 2 sources of income which is our rehearsal fees which just about covers the costs of venue hire, storage, insurance etc..., and our Ticket Sales.

We have had no income at all since March 2019 as have not been able to continue selling tickets or rehearse, and although we've successfully been able to move our next major show Cats from 2019 to 2022 which has strong pre-sales, we unfortunately do not have any way to access to the ticket funds until after the show has taken place and is held by the ticket platform (just as it would be by a venue).

We're reaching out and asking the wonderful people of Lichfield and all of our supporters in the surrounding areas if they would consider donating some money to us to help us keep on doing the work we do. Anything you can afford would be a huge help. At the moment it is being financially propped up by its board members, of which all are voluntary, and this can obviously only continue for so long.

Youth Theatre is a place where talented young performers from all schools and backgrounds come together with one common objective. To put on an incredible show. Those of you have probably seen our Les Miserables at the Garrick in the past and at Lichfield Cathedral in the recent times, as well as our endless productions like Phantom of the Opera, Oliver, Fame, Legally Blonde, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, American Idiot, Rent, Joseph, and many many more before then dating back all the way to the original Arts Centre and Lichfield Civic Hall.

Our past members have gone on to star in TV shows like Eastenders (Toby Alexander-Smith) and Sherlock (Sian Brooke) or appeared in West End, Touring and Broadway Shows  (Siobhan Dillon, Katie Kerr, Alex Wadham) or performing with the RSC (Romayne Andrews) and all areas of the creative arts be it writing (Adrian Poynton) or producing (Sarah Broad). There are so many it's hard to name them all.

Young performers not only improve their arts skills in music, dance and acting, but also more importantly learn important life skills and gain confidence and experience. They not only go on to work in the arts, many have become doctors, nurses, teachers, police officers, business people. If you ask any of them, Youth Theatre played a huge part in their lives.

We have exciting plans for the future and are confident that we can return with your help and secure the next 35 years of Youth Theatre.
