Please consider helping my amazing co-worker Liz Neeves as she navigates her 13-year-old cat's cancer treatment.
My co-worker and friend Liz and I have worked together as nurses on a Cardiovascular-Surgical ICU in NYC for over 3 years. (Also, my husband knows Liz and Conor's good friend. Small world!) Liz is a strong charge nurse who is dedicated to her patients and fellow co-workers. She is caring and compassionate, welcoming, and always willing to help. Of course, she's got a snarky joke to crack while she's at it.
As many of you know, Liz lost her father, Tom, in an unexpected and tragic accident 6 months ago. 2025 was rough. Her being out on leave, managing his estate, and the NYC nursing strike has put a strain on finances for Liz and her family.
Simba is Liz's best friend. Her spicy, lovable orange cat Simba has been with Liz since undergrad, nursing school, and now her master's program. Just like her late father, Simba was a constant in her life throughout life's challenges. He was pivotal in her grieving process this winter. He is an excellent cuddler and knows how to "rot" like no one's business.
In March 2026, a mass appeared on his cheek. Simba quickly developed a rare facial sarcoma. Due to the tumor's location and proximity to vital organs, the tumor is inoperable. The only option is radiation to slow the growth, reduce inflammation, and prolong his life. None of which is covered by her pet insurance.
Liz is devastated considering the year she has had. She is a compassionate, supportive, resilient friend who needs our help during this time. Thank you for your time and consideration because she wouldn't make this GoFundMe without my insistence :)
