Liye Yusufova, Charlotte Jewish Preschool assistant teacher of 16 years , was diagnosed with a double brain tumor on March 25th. She is scheduled to undergo surgery on April 26th. Unfortunately, her health is quickly deteriorating.
Ms. Liye is with her family and her husband Ariel is preparing to care for her post-surgery that will take place on April 26th, 2017. This preparation includes giving up their home and finding a place to live that will accommodate both physical therapy and in-home medical care for an indefinite period.
Ms. Liye had a special talent for soothing and smoothing the way for bilingual children who were transitioning from little boys and girls into eager students. All of their fears and tears about entering a new world were soothed away when they heard their family’s native language spoken at school. Ms. Liye would stop by the classroom every morning and spend a few minutes speaking in Russian with upset and apprehensive children until they adjusted to school.
She helped many children fall in love with school, and thus with education, and we are only a few of the parents who will be forever grateful. We know there are hundreds of families whose kids interacted with and were touched by Ms. Liye during her tenure at CJP.
Your support for Ms. Liye and her husband during these difficult times is a small way of thanking a special educator. Thank you so much.
