My name is Max, and I live in Los Angeles County, California. I am raising money for an important cause, and I am asking you to help support this cause on my behalf. If you can, I would like to ask you to stop and think about something for a moment: How do you use your hearing to live your life? Do you listen to music? Do you hear when someone needs something because they call you? And maybe you just love hearing the sounds of the world. Now imagine you didn’t have any of that or had less of that. Would your life be harder? I can tell you first-hand that life is harder being deaf even in just one ear. You are different from everyone else. You have to adjust differently than everyone else. You miss out. Now, of course, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other hearing devices are a solution, but only for those who can afford them. I’m sorry to say that many people, all over the world, cannot. Having had hearing aids most of my life, and being mere months away from possibly getting a cochlear implant, I realized this, and it made me sad. So I decided to do something about it.
I have partnered with the Global Foundation For Children With Hearing Loss, or the GFCHL (www.childrenwithhearingloss.org), to raise money for this important cause. The GFCHL is currently working in Mongolia to implement nationwide newborn hearing screening to identify hearing loss in infants shortly after birth. Early identification is essential for timely interventions to overcome the effect of hearing loss on a child’s development. GFCHL also provides training and resources for local professionals and families of children with hearing loss. I am raising money via GoFundMe to support GFCHL’s work. I encourage you to donate to this vital cause. Equipment and related supplies for newborn hearing screening are expensive, and prices for the required elements range from $25 to $2500. Training for Mongolian professionals on how to use the equipment is necessary and costs money as well as does educational support to help Mongolian families understand how to help their children with hearing loss develop listening and spoken language. This fundraiser will most likely end sometime in May, so please donate as soon as possible! Tax receipts WILL be provided by GoFundMe and PayPal.
And finally, tell your friends! This is a universal cause, and as many donors as possible means a bigger impact and priceless hope for young children in Mongolia with hearing loss. You can spread the word yourself, or share this fundraiser online. I hope you will consider a donation because you will be making a huge impact!
***Checks made out to Global Foundation For Children With Hearing Loss are also accepted! You can mail checks to me, and I will then mail them to the organization. To get my address, you will need to personally contact me at [phone redacted]. This is a security precaution. If you mail a check, please include your name, address, email, and phone number if possible. This will help us issue tax receipts.***
