Help Students In The Biggest Slum In Africa

Donation protected
Hello Everybody, My name is Antonio and I’m now in Kibra, the biggest slum in Africa, located in the suburbs of Nairobi(Kenya). I came here to see what it’s like to live in a slum and give my contribution to the local community. Since my arrival I’ve been volunteering at a local school called “Future Stars Development Centre”. A community project that gives shelter to orphans and abandoned kids. It also provides basic education, food and healthcare to more than 150 vulnerable and disadvantaged kids of the slum. I’m doing whatever I can to help the kids: teaching, outdoor activities, raising money and providing financial support. I am also trying to get local and international footballers involved to support the school by sharing the story or even donate their shirts to raise money. Life in the slum is tough; most people live with less than $2 a day, more than 10% of the population is HIV positive and life expectancy is 30 years. The school is in terrible condition and the hygiene level is very low. Everything is lacking, from books to drinking water. Yet, this is the only place some of the kids of the slum have; their only opportunity to learn something and hope for a better future. Any sort of donation, even the smallest one, could make a real difference here. Give a smile to the kids or maybe change their life. To give you a rough idea, the cost for feeding a student for a month is $5. Now we are trying to buy new beds and mattresses for the boarding school students; mostly orphans or kids coming from difficult families. We are also funding a work placement project for the older students (grade 11 and 12) to go out and learn a profession that could sustain them after leaving school. Every time something is bought, fixed or achieved in the school thanks to the donation I will post pictures and videos so everybody can see where the money is going.
