My name is Yvette, and my daughters name is Kianna, she's 23 and we desperately need your help.
About 3 years ago, she was in her last year of college, in a ROTC program and set to commisson as an officer in the US Army. She was injured during a training course.
It was the longest 2 years of seeing numerous doctors and being advised that she had everything from a sprain, pulled groin injury, sports hernia, labral tear, and even cancer.
About a year ago, new symptoms developed. She noticed her vision was cloudy. She was sent to an opthamologist and advised she had severe inflammation. This was followed by steroid injections to the eyes. One week later, she noticed an underwater sensation in her left ear. She found out she was deaf in that ear, and has a 50% loss of hearing in the right ear.
Kianna is currently going through the following conditions:
*white washed vision with floaters and dark spots
*loss of peripheral vision
*left eye is weak and drops
*numbness and tingling in extremities
*severe headaches and tremors
*weakness and fatigue
*hand and foot drop
*spasms and pain throughout her spine
*inability to move or lift right leg and some of her toes
*asphasia and cognitive deficiences
She has now been to the outpatient Mayo Clinic in Florida, with no answers. She's seen several neurologists, orthopedists, allgerists, rheumatologists, immunologists and a neuro-ent.
Kianna was recently admitted to Tampa General Hospital for 3 weeks where it seemed like hundreds of tests were performed. Cat-scans, mri's, lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy, bloodwork, muscle conduction tests, ect..and is nowhere closer to a diagnosis!
She is getting weaker by the day and was put on a medication called methotrexate. This was to see "if" it could help with her vision and hearing. She's had severe reactions to this medication and it has seemed to make her worse. As of today, they've taken her off of it and she'll see another doctor tomorrow to know her next step.
My daughter used to run miles, work out for hours, spin a 15 pd rifle during drill team exhibitons, do mud runs, she was a proficient writer and excelled academically.
Kianna is now so weak with memory loss, in a wheelchair and unable to do things independantly.
We still have no answers and we're reaching out for your help! Medical expenses are climbing, and we cannot stop this journey until we get the right help, and even at that time the expenses will continue to rise!
I am a single mother, a teacher, who just wants the best care for my daughter. She needs her life back, she deserves to have her life back. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated and will go directly to Kianna's care and medical costs.
