Ken's Stage 4 Terminal Cancer Fund

Donation protected
3 weeks ago all was well with their world, everything was just fine; Ken had a cough that had been hanging on for more than a month, but other than that, things were great. Fast forward to July 8th and he's dying. Ken was just diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, he is only 46 years young and will not live more than 6 months. The cancer has completely invaded his pancreas, lungs, liver, spleen, lymph nodes and possibly his bones. The cancer was found on imaging when he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia in both lungs on July 2nd and was then confirmed by biopsy. After a 6-day hospital stay he was sent home with an appointment for the cancer center later that week.  Ken and Priscilla were told at the appointment  that the cancer was very far progressed, and that they *may* be able to do some chemo to extend his life an additional 3-6 months. The prognosis was grim with an average life expectancy of about 6 months from diagnosis, Ken's case being worse due to the shape his lungs are in.  After being home only a few days Ken had to be taken by ambulance back to hospital, he was having a very hard time breathing. He has been placed on a ventilator and is in a medically induced coma.  The doctors told Prissy to gather their family and say their goodbyes. But Ken is still fighting!!!  He needs to be awake and breathing on his own to receive chemo. They are weaning him off of the vent, and we have high hopes he will get there and be able to start chemo. Priscilla has not left his side for more than a few minutes. This family of 4 (they have 2 young boys) lives on an extremely tight budget, paycheck to paycheck. Neither of them has been able to work since July 2nd. Prissy just had started a new job and hasn't been there long enough to file for FMLA and Ken is a tutor and substitute teacher, so the summer is his off season from work. Since he has been not working disability will be hard to get. This family does not know how they will pay their rent, electric, gas, car payment, auto ins, and buy food to feed their family. Priscilla has been trying to open a photography studio for a few years, and now it looks that will be put on hold again as she will need to care for her dying husband 24 hours a day. They have no life insurance, no money saved, and no way to pay for funeral and burial costs. Soon there won't be enough money for gas to get back and forth from the hospital to home, and after that, with no money for rent there will be no home to go back to. Let's pull together and help this deserving family out. I have never met anyone who has gone through as much as this family. Prissy lost her first husband at 21 on Christmas Eve when he was in a terrible car accident. She had a small child and was pregnant with another. Ken has taken those kids on as his own, and now this wife and these kids will lose another father and husband. If you can give anything at all it would help tremendously! Thank you! And please pray for the entire Longshore family.  They would do anything they could to help someone out, and I would love to see that same love and care come back to them now,  when they need it most!

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. - Galatians 6:2
