Karma is in desperate need ot a foster home or a forever home!
Why would anyone lock up and throw away the key on this beautiful dog? It is a question that seems almost unbelievable in a modern county shelter, yet that is exactly what happened to Karma. Even more unbelievably, it was known she had a leg injury, and was left in this cage untreated for 6 months in tremendous pain!
She came to a county shelter in California as a stray, and one would expect she would receive humane treatment. She is very friendly and submissive with all humans, but she failed her dog to dog evaluation. Simply, she was reactive to another dog on a leash, which many dogs are.
In December 2014 she was put in virtual isolation in a dank building without light where the kennel she lived in was very small and not meant to house dogs. No volunteers were allowed to walk or interact with her even though she posed no threat to them. It was widely known she is friendly and craves human interaction.
Through the efforts of caring volunteers who found it unacceptable, along with a compassionate rescue group, Karma was released into the light on June 1 2015, but after enduring 6 months of confinement she was diagnosed with total muscle atrophy affecting her untreated injury, and hips.
Her temporary foster family reports that she was completely house trained from the first day with them, and is amazingly unaffected in her spirit - she is still charming with all people, especially children who she loves to give kisses to! She has gone to a top L.A.orthopedist who says her muscles are re-building nicely- but her untreated injury will need surgery. We are determined she will get the care that she needs; and make up for the neglect and pain this lovely girl has endured!
Karmas's foster family cannot keep her, so we are looking for a new foster or a forever home for this deserving girl who refuses to be anything other than beautiful in every way, despite what happened to her. Please open your hearts to this 4 year old beauty who has much love to give for the rest of her life, and help her get the treatment and life she deserves! For those who have a spot in their home, and their lives; she is looking for a forever home with a person who wants a companion who will give total love and loyalty. Because she has not spent time with other dogs, she may well need to be an "only child". Karma thanks you very much for giving her a chance.
