Toronto Flooding Victim - Karen F

As many of you know, downtown Toronto experienced an unprecedented localized rainfall last week, resulting in extensive flooding and damage in affected areas.

Sadly, one such victim of this flooding was our own COG co-worker  Karen Fitzpatrick.  Karen lived in a basement apartment in Toronto which was consumed by flood waters last week. Water came into her apartment so quickly that night, that she barely made it out in time before the water levels reached waist high.  She recalls that water was coming up from the toilet and sinks and her appliances, including the fridge, where floating!

Karen is staying with acquaintances temporarily as she looks for a  new place to live.  Almost all of her belongings have been destroyed and cannot be salvaged.

Needless to say, this is a devastating life event and I hope we can provide Karen with some assistance through this difficult time as she rebuilds her life from this flood.
