Dear Friends, Julia needs our help. It's been a hell of a year and there's new challenges around every corner.
As you know, just a month after her dear mom, Iwona, passed away after a year-long fight with leukemia, Julia herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. She chose to act fast and undergo a lumpectomy. The surgery went well, but the fight is just beginning. Doctors told her that the tumor was aggressive and there's a high chance that the cancer will reappear. To help her chances, Julia is undergoing chemotherapy, which will be followed by radiation. Her doctor recommends she take off anywhere from 6 to 8 months for treatment and recovery.
That's a long time to be out of work, and Julia was counting on her employer's insurance to cover her cost of living. Unfortunately, the insurance is limited, and Julia will have to apply for medical employment insurance coverage with the government, which is a bare minimum.
This is where we come in. Julia is a proud homeowner, and the insurance will barely cover her mortgage. She needs to eat well so that her body heals well, and she needs help to keep the house clean and replace her old vaccum cleaner. A clean house is not only important for stress reduction, but it also prevents bacteria and viruses from multiplying. Chemotherapy basically destroys your immune system, so Julia is susceptible to infections.
Finally, Julia would like to send her son, Xavier, to summer camp and other activities. She would like to give him a fun summer—not one spent indoors taking care of a sick mom.
We're hoping to raise enough funds to help her through the summer, so she doesn't have extra financial stress and anxiety when she should be concentrating on healing.
