Life is a precious commodity – and worth fighting for.
In trying to describe Joyce, we find it relatively difficult to choose words that don’t sound cliché or sappy. Because she really is just the perfect epitome of “sweet”.
Joyce Funk, a caring Friend, Neighbor, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, has been diagnosed with cancer of the lung. She has always been an dvocate of “clean & healthy living” and in enjoys life to the fullest with her family, friends AND her animals!!! She LOVES the great outdoors and gives her time and means freely to those who are less fortunate than herself, and counts herself blessed to be able to do so.
Joyce has been diagnosed with cancer of the lung and is seeking holistic medical treatment in Las Vegas, Nevada. Due to the unconventional treatments, insurance will not cover the cost. So as a family we are asking for help to cover the costs of treatment and to help Joyce fight this battle.
When her granddaughter’s military husband couldn't be present for the birth of one of their children, she flew across the country to be by her side without hesitation. She organized her home, helped with her two young children, cooked & cleaned for the family, practiced the drive to the hospital repeatedly so she could get it right when the time came. Joyce also gave the expectant mother a pedicure! (As a pedicurist she has donated her time to countless women who were in need of a little pampering.) She literally held her granddaughter through her worst contractions and was there for her as she pushed her baby girl into the world. They both cried
when they saw the baby’s beautiful face. To others this might have seemed a sacrifice, but this is Joyce’s nature.
It is hard to find the words to describe what an incredible person she is. She cracks the best jokes and plays practical jokes every chance she gets! It's AWESOME. Whenever you are with her she makes it FUN with unexpected activities, silliness, and always with music - whether inside or out you are guaranteed a good time. She constantly watches for opportunities to
improve the lives around her with her compassion, service, and sense of humor.
She is NOT the type to ever ask others for help (and will probably cry and feel like she doesn’t deserve all this attention or help when she finds out that we are doing a fundraiser for her!), but she truly needs it.
So many people have needed her her whole life and she was there for them even if they didn’t ask for help and now her life is in danger and she needs others.
She needs ALL of US.
The treatment that she requires will cost 200,000.
What we are asking, is for a little help - whatever you can give - to help her with her cancer treatments.
Thank you dear friends!
