This is Josh. He was part of the team at the Best Western PLUS in Roanoke, VA. On May 15th around 2:00 am, Josh started feeling bad. Before noon came ....he was gone. He had just turned 31.
Josh loved his job and his job loved him back. He was part of a family (he called us his "second home"). He was our brother, son, cousin, comedian.....friend. He was always doing funny things. Just last Thursday, he went to the store to buy balloons to decorate the lobby. He bought 48 each of two colors. I had just told him to buy a few balloons...but he bought 96. Excitedly, he showed me the decorations, including the balloons. I said, "Oh, did I tell you that YOU have to blow them all up?" "Get crackin'!" I wish I would have taken a picture of his face. :-) (The other team members helped him though...so he got out of it).
Here's why we've created a Gofundme page: Josh didn't make much money. He was making more with us than he did at his previous job as a pizza delivery guy. But like so many of us...he lived paycheck to paycheck, with never enough to put aside for emergencies. And now, there is not enough money to cover all of his funeral expenses.
I'm asking anyone who is reading this to please put yourself in Josh's family's shoes. They need help. And while he would be embarassed by the attention, he deserves to be honored! Won't you help? Whatever you can give will be so appreciated. $1, $5 or more....ANYTHING! We expect the funeral to cost over $7,000.00 but any money will help.
One of his favorite bands was Filter. They stayed with us a few weeks ago, and gave Josh their autographs. We're going to leave you with a song they sing.
