Josh and Casey's Journey to Healing
Donation protected
A phrase you never want to hear associated with a loved one, and once uttered can irrevocably change your life forever.
"Start getting your affairs in order, you have three months to live."
29-year-old Josh Phelps and wife Casey were given the news that tumors were surrounding his spinal cord. Two-thirds of his spine were already filled with tumors and the rate of growth was anticipated to attack the brain and shut down his body quickly. The tumors though non-cancerous, were found to be idiopathic; a type that affects only 1% of 1% the population, of which the three cases in the U.S. were deceased within three months of diagnosis. 12 surgeries, numerous tests, and specialist after specialist, Josh has beat the odds and met the 2-year mark - remarkable considering what an arduous journey he's taken this far. The tumors have spread to his stomach and kidney resulting in an intermittent loss of feeling throughout his trunk, arms, and legs. He can no longer walk without assistance. In constant pain and requiring care, his wife Casey is his strength.
Casey works for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District to train teachers and staff in the implementation of technology as an instructional resource. Not only does she juggle the demands of a highly rewarding job, but she solely takes on the role as the primary provider for her family. A task that has become more difficult to do.
After the latest round of testing, it was discovered that Josh's vertebrae are now disintegrating and the remaining bones are scraping over his nerves causing further damage to his spinal cord.
Managing his health has become a tremendous challenge both mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially. Over the next few months, Josh and Casey will face numerous tests and procedures to determine if Josh will begin a road to recovery, or find some comfort to combat the pain during what little time he has remaining.

Josh and Casey are the epitome of a loving and devoted couple who deserve so much more than what they've received. They know that their journey together in life is not over yet, but must face numerous trials before they begin to see hope. Out of all their concerns, money should not hinder them on their search for a cure. Please help them raise money towards the upcoming procedures so they may continue on their journey to find peace and healing.
Please help them now.
