This page is for my brother-in-law, John Chinlund. Below is a little about John's condition from Alisa ("Ali"), who is my sister and John's wife:
On March 21, 2013, John suffered a seizure. An MRI of the brain revealed that he had multiple masses/lesions/tumors. He was given large doses of steroids to shrink the masses. The lesions were undetectable on the date of the first surgery, April 4, 2013.
Unfortunately, John had to wait for the tumors to become visible again before receiving a diagnosis or treatment. On June 11, 2013, John had brain surgery. It was revealed that he has stage 4, Primary CNS Lymphoma of the brain in the left Temporal Lobe, which is responsible for speech, language, communication, thinking, understanding, and memory. He also has mobility issues.
John's cancer is an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Four rounds of Chemotherapy were initially thought to be eradicating the Cancer cells. It was recently revealed that the brain tumors have returned, increased in size, and the cancer is spreading throughout John's brain.
He completed a round of "Whole Brain Radiation" and began a regimen of "Focused Brain Radiation." Since the radiation cannot target only the Cancer cells, healthy cells may be destroyed as well, which could lead to temporary or permanent brain issues for months, years, or permanently. He is experiencing major difficulties with cognitive functioning, speech, communication, memory, and mobility.
He can no longer work as a computer programmer/analyst. His wife, Ali, is unemployed, having gone back to college. She also provides John with the care he needs.
The extended hospital stays, treatments, therapies, tests, procedures, medications, doctor visits, and other costs associated with John's cancer have caused major financial difficulties and increasing debt. John and Ali desperately need some financial assistance. Any donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated. If you know people who might want to help, please spread the word.
