Reoccuring Surgery: A Brooklyn Artist's Journey

This marks my eighth surgery now, and while I'd love to say it's just a minor setback, the truth is far more complex. My sixth was just a few months ago. Missing work is number 1 on the list. Juggling medical bills, and the aftermath of surgeries has proven to be an unforeseen challenge in the vibrant chaos of New York City.

The Battle:

Aside from the physical pain that comes with recovery, this journey has also meant putting a temporary pause on two of my great loves - fitness and dancing. As someone deeply passionate about fitness, the inability to lift heavy has been a struggle, disrupting a crucial aspect of my routine. Moreover, the joy of going out dancing and letting loose has been temporarily silenced.

This summer, a seton placement procedure added an extra layer of challenge. The sandy shores and the refreshing waves of the beach were off-limits, as laying in the sand or going into the water were simply not an option. It was a stark reminder that the freedom to enjoy life's simple pleasures could be temporarily taken away.

Professional Achievements:

Despite these setbacks, this year has seen incredible professional achievements. I was honored to be named the Creative Director for a dear friend's tall women's clothing line, contributing my artistic vision to redefine style. Additionally, I successfully rebranded a renowned NYC gay leather company, showcasing my adaptability and creativity by building their website using a program I had never used before.
