Update: On Wednesday, September 4th I began to experience intense back spasms again. I called 911 and was taken to the ER. I had another MRI and disc bulging in two places was revealed. This is a major health setback for me, despite the life-saving spinal fusion and implant stabilizing surgery I had in November of 2023. I have an outstanding medical bill at my surgeon's office, my account was locked, and I am working on negotiating arrangements so that I can get into his office and have the current medical situation assessed. This most recent health crisis has been devastating. I am still fundraising to address this most recent issue. I did not reach the much-needed goal.

P.S. I have been seeking viable work opportunities for many months, while also marketing my seven books, speaking opportunities, consulting, transformative coaching, and the She Heals subscription community.

Love,

Joan

This fundraiser aims to raise money to keep me from becoming homeless by covering my rent rent which is two months behind, and must be paid by Sunday, July 28th. Additional money will go towards my medical expenses, and my day-today expenses while I am healing and continue to work remotely and seek additional remote employment opportunities.

After 13 years of suffering with a serious back injury, this condition progressed, and last year I was virtually bedridden for six months. After numerous unsuccessful procedures, I had major back surgery at the end 2023. During this period of time of contracted listeria, as well as other health challenges that I still experiencing. I am 8 months into a 12-18 month recovery from surgery.

I have applied for numerous remote work opportunities. To continue my transformative work with women, I host two support groups. I created She Heals a transformative portal of wellness for women. Additionally, I host transformative pop-up coaching events. I am an author of seven books. These revenue streams are in the early stages of providing financial sustainability.

For over twenty years I have been working in the field of service, helping women transform their lives. In 2014 my life took a detour, I placed all my belongings in storage, and I moved to Louisiana and became the primary caregiver for my mom and my aunt, nonagenarians who suffered with Lewy Body Dementia, a form of Alzheimers. I cared for them for seven years, with severely marginalized financial and supportive resources, until they passed away in 2021, less than two months a part.

Despite the challenges I faced as a primary caregiver, I persevered. I became a self-published author of a love story, a food/recipe book and journal, as well as two biblical studies.

Immediately following my mom’s death, I became homeless, not by choice. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was forced to leave our family homestead. I lived in a local storefront in Loreauville, Louisiana. And then I lived in a hotel in Opelousas, Louisiana where I stayed for sixty-seven days. From there I lived in two other places, still with a status of homelessness.

I sustained a severe back injury in 2012. This condition worsened during my years as a caregiver. Last year, my back injury became debilitating. The tear in my spine expanded after contracting listeria. I had many other health challenges. I had numerous medical and surgical procedures, yet they were unsuccessful. I was in and out of the emergency room and placed on around the clock pain medications. This condition left me virtually bedridden. I had life-saving surgery at the end of 2023.

Through all of this, I preserved through my graduate school studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and was nominated and inducted into the Honor Roll Society in Counseling. I am eight months into a twelve-to-eighteen-month recovery. I am limited to what I can do physically.

As mentioned above, I have applied for numerous remote work opportunities. To continue my transformative work with women, I host two support groups. I created She Heals a transformative portal of wellness for women. Additionally, I host transformative pop-up coaching events. I am an author of seven books. These revenue streams are in the early stages of providing financial sustainability.
My website

As a result of caring for my mom and aunt for seven years, and because of the numerous health challenges I am experiencing, I am on the verge of homelessness again. I am two months behind on my rent, with mounting debts. I am asking for your help, please give whatever you can. For the first 10 donations I am giving away membership to my She Heals Community https://sheheals.substack.com.

Pain and suffering have produced a greater purpose in my life, a deep well of empathy and compassion and wisdom to help women transform their lives.

Love,

Joan
