Help in Kimber's Care & Recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday, May 12th, 2018 a horrific accident occurred. Our little Kimber, being the rambunctious 3yr old that she is, was playing in her backyard and was accidentally run over by a riding lawn mower and sustained severe injuries to her right foot. By the grace of God, her neighbor, who is an EMT, heard the 911 call and came over right away. Miraculously, at that same time, the Pilot in charge of the helicopter also heard the scanner and assuming that he was going to get an emergency call, started the helicopter. It only took him 8 minutes to get to Kimber when it should have taken much longer. During this time, Kimber’s big brother Jade, was brave enough to scoop Kimber up in his arms and wrap her foot with his shirt. Kimber was flown from her home in the mountains of Idaho to Spokane, WA. It was determined there that she would receive better care at Harborview  Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Kimber and her mom were flown there instead.

During Kimber’s first two weeks in the hospital, she endured 4 different surgeries, a blood transfusion, a skin flap, and graft surgery. The whole Medical Team worked very hard and did everything in their power to prevent her from losing her foot. They were not able to save her toes, she lost 2 of them. Kimber was released after two weeks with the hopes that her foot would heal.

On Thursday, May 31, she had her follow up. During that time, it was determined that her body was rejecting the skin from the skin graft and she was brought back in for a 5th surgery. The doctors then discovered that there was also an infection causing the bone of her big toe to die. Unfortunately, they had to remove a portion of that toe as well. There will be a meeting coming up in the near future to determine what the next best step for our little Kimber is, whether she will keep her foot or not. This whole ordeal has been a mental, physical, emotional, and financial hardship on the whole family. Kimber’s siblings were placed in the care of family members in another state, a great distance away from their parents and Kimber.

Currently, while Lindsey is staying with Kimber in her hospital room, Brandon is sleeping in the family vehicle nearby. The drive back to Idaho is 6 hours one way so traveling back home is not an option. This will be an extremely long road for everyone, especially Kimber, as she adjusts with all of these new changes. We have faith and hope that she will be just fine, as she will always be our sassy little firecracker! The medical bills are continuing to add up as well as the bills back home, as Brandon is not able to work in order to be with Lindsey and Kimber in Seattle.

We are asking if you are able to donate to them, please do so. If not, please continue to keep the family in your prayers! Please feel free to share!
