Tova’s Story

Every woman has a story. Every woman is a story. A story of joy and triumph…and sadness and struggle. For some, it includes heartbreak of the deepest kind. Two years ago, Tova Bella (Tatiana) had the perfect life in Woodland Hills where she lived with her beloved husband Pesach and three children. Pesach suddenly and tragically died of a seemingly mild illness. Tova and her children’s lives were transformed overnight. There was no life insurance. Two weeks after the funeral they lost their home and were forced to move into a little town house with her parents and with her sister's family, very far away from any shul. She was left with a lot of debt that she is trying to pay off little by little as well as trying to continue to provide a proper Jewish education. She has the heartbreaking task of taking her young David age 10, Genia age 7, and Mordechai age 6 to say the Yizkor prayer for their father. On top of dealing with this trauma till today, there is the never-ending financial stress. After being a stay-at-home mom all these years, she is now grabbing any opportunity to earn money to provide for her kids and continue paying off the debt which eats at their inadequate income. She also has her own medical challenges that she needs to take care of. But with no stable, decent-paying job yet, she is struggling to keep up with life’s expenses. For Tova and her children, it is a distant dream to think about living on their own in a Jewish community close to a shul, so that they can keep a proper Kosher kitchen and get the communal family and friendship they need.

How You Can Help

We’ve created this page because we see how despite the hard work Tova invests, trying everything in her power…the family is still struggling tremendously and is in need of help. Every dollar donated will be going directly to this widow and three orphans. Tova is a very optimistic person with a simple faith in G-d. She is a fighter, hard-working, and giving; a truly productive member of society. Before the tragedy, she was volunteering at the food bank of Chabad of the Conejo - buying the groceries, schlepping the bags, packaging - you name it. After the passing of her husband she continued for a couple of months, volunteering to express her gratitude to the Conejo Valley community that helped her emotionally in a time of need. We now ask you to help us help her at the next level- with financial support. Together we can ensure that the next chapter in Tova’s story is one of stability and comfort and triumph…perhaps even a home near her beloved shul. Heartfelt thanks in advance for partnering with all of us to fulfill one of the greatest mitzvot of providing for “the orphan and the widow who are in your cities.”
