Helping Hand for Stuart

If you don't know Stuart personally, thank you for taking the time to come by and read his story.

This past summer Stuart celebrated his 50th birthday in his hometown of Hillingdon, Slough, UK with his lovely wife and two beautiful and talented pre-teenage daughters. He was especially excited to return to his birthplace; he hadn't been back to visit his overseas family in almost five years. They had a grand celebration: a surprise 50th birthday party on July 1st.

To everyone's dismay this joyous and lighthearted time became the calm before a storm. Stuart began to experience alarming physical symptoms. Shortly after his return to the States he scheduled a checkup with his doctor. This lead to a colonoscopy and a biopsy revealing stage 3 colon cancer.

Those of us lucky enough know Stuart and Tona Barnes all know how kind, generous and helpful they both are. They both give freely of themselves, their time
and resources. We are both lucky and blessed to know and have such wonderful loving people in our lives. They are the first people to step up and volunteer, and the last ones to go home after helping. Take and house a loose dog until the owner is found? No problem, they're on top of it. Go out of their way to volunteer, give rides, and offer a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen? They're your couple. What we need to ask our friends, family, neighbors and those of you we have yet to meet is, won't you show Stuart and his family a little love in return?

His cancer is being treated aggressively right now with strong chemotherapy. This is both taxing Stuart's body and wearing everyone down. The Barnes' are extremely humble and private people;  they've never wanted to ask anyone for help and this occasion is no exception.

This fund has been created for two reasons:

1. It will greatly help them out with medical expenses. January is the start of a new year and a new deductible in addition to co-pays and co-insurance.

2. Stuart expressed and initial interest in receiving additional treatments that will help him bounce back from the chemo sessions more easily with fewer side effects. The treatments have been widely used since the 60's and will allow him to return to work more quickly and continue providing for his family. The catch is that insurance will NOT cover these treatments. The cost of entire treatment package is approximately $10,000.00.

We ask for your help in supporting Stuart and his family, as your donations could very well save his life.

Thank you and God Bless you all!
