At the young age 48 years old, (January 2016) Tim Rintoul developed Esophagus cancer and had to go for Chemo and Radiation treatments before they took his Esophagus out. Tim developed an infection and had to stay a month in the hospital.
Not being able to work for the year had also put financial stress on the family of 6. Tim and Kelly have 4 teenagers. The family was very happy to hear that they felt they were able to remove the cancer and he would be cancer free.
The following year, (November 2017) Tim was in an ATV accident which almost took his life. After the ATV rolled on him, he had major 3 head injuries causing short term memory loss as well as 6 broken ribs, broken collarbones, eye damage, causing him to see double, and the loss of his hearing . Tim then had to spent 5 months in the hospital and brain rehab.
Tim has had 3 eye operations, still struggling with one eye and now has hearing aids.
In March of 2018, Tim had to start treatment again as his Esophagus cancer was back and this time it is terminal. Tim spends every three weeks visiting the Ottawa hospital for treatment. The doctors told the family that worse case Tim would have 6 months, but with treatment it could be 1 to 2 years. Tim is a fighter as he still fighting and refusing to stop the fight. They were very happy to hear that the chemo has shrunk the lip nodes back to the proper size so the treatment is working. Tim is also on a blind trial drug with hopes that it is the real thing and not the placebo.
Tim does not want the family to lose everything so he is trying hard to go to work. Tim does not have short term disability through work and unemployment only covers $400/week so he has continued to work when he is able.
The family is struggling emotionally and financially and hope we can raise funds to help ease some worrying.
The family just can not seem to get a break. Tim and Kelly and family live in small town west of Kanata in White Lake.
