As you know, Alex’s nurse aide, Florence, has been with our family for 14 years. Who would have ever thought that we would still have the same caregiver in our lives for this long? We are extremely blessed. We would be completely lost without her. With all that being said, she is family and her family is our family as well. Her Dad, Nathaniel Hurley, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer 5 years ago. He has had his good days and bad days over the years. But in the last year, it has metastasized into his lymph nodes and bones. Hospice has been called into her home because his cancer is progressing very quickly. Florence is taking care of her Dad every minute that she is not with Alex. And he requires 24/7 care. Bills are piling up, yard work has taken a backseat, her AC is broken in her house, car problems keep arising, and meals are far between. I know that she needs a paid caregiver or volunteer in her home when she is with our family. Her children and siblings are doing everything they can to help as well. But I also know she needs help around the house with chores and meals and bills that are piling up. If you know Alex, you know Florence. And by helping Florence, you are helping our family.
