Jason was sadly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease on 31 October 2017 and was told he only has 2-4 years to live.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive terminal neurological disease that destroys motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. These are the cells that control essential voluntary muscle activity such as speaking, walking, breathing, and swallowing. The things we all take for granted.
This means that messages from Jason’s brain will gradually stop reaching his muscles, which will lead to weakness and muscle wastage. Each day in Australia, two or more people die from MND and more than two people are diagnosed with MND.
Jason’s doctor told him that each individual takes their own journey with this disease, but in the next breath told him to create a bucket list and go live life, as life expectancy with MND is only 2 to 4 years. To say he and Anthea were completely floored is an understatement.
Where your contribution is going
In retirement, Jason planned to travel Australia with his family. Unfortunately, these plans now need to be brought forward as Jason may be confined to a wheelchair within just a few short years.
Our goal is to raise money so he can get on the road sooner and get to making lifetime memories with his family doing what they all love.
Any donations will go towards buying a caravan, fuel costs, other essential travel needs plus ongoing medical expenses, so that Jason and his family can live their dream trip.
We appreciate any donation
Jason is not the type to ask for help, so his family have set this page up for him.
If you know Jason, then you know that if you asked him for help he wouldn’t hesitate.
We’re grateful for your support.
