Helping Greta Grace
Life changes in the blink of an eye and so it did for Cynthia Buczko’s dog, Greta Grace.
On Saturday October 15, Cynthia and Greta were in Plymouth, IL at a Nosework workshop having a wonderful time. Saturday evening, Greta began vomiting. By Sunday, Greta stopped urinating. She was taken for emergency treatment in nearby Macomb, IL. The vet stabilized her and said she was possibly in renal failure. The turn of events was shocking. To have a normal, healthy, active dog and suddenly faced with a horrible situation for your best friend is awful. The decision was made to transfer Greta Grace to the Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove, IL.
Greta has been in the Veterinary Specialty Center’s ICU since Sunday. She’s had a multitude of tests, been seen by numerous specialists. Greta Grace was in renal failure, no cause yet. The only option to get Greta’s kidneys functioning again was dialysis. Without dialysis, she was given 12 hours to live. Besides being overwhelmed by the diagnosis, the possibility of losing her dog, the cost factor is staggering. To the point where Cynthia said she didn’t know how she could afford the $20,000+ for treatment. Her current bills so far are at $10,000.
On the suggestion of Cynthia’s primary vet, some friends - all the people who know and love her and Greta Grace, the Helping Greta Grace GoFundMe page was started. Securing the treatment Greta Grace needs and easing the stressful financial burden is the goal. Greta Grace has had two dialysis treatments so far and is slowly showing improvement. Cynthia is using her savings and Care credit to cover as much as possible. She never asked for help and is embarrassed at finding herself in this position. We, her friends all say, “This is what friends are for. We help in any way we can”.
Any donation large or small, prayers, positive thoughts, good intentions are appreciated
