Hello! My name is LaDajah Thomas. Recently, I experienced an unexpected tragedy that has had a devastating effect on my life. A mere 5 months after becoming the first person in my family to earn a BA degree, I woke up to the news that my father, Michael Thomas, had been struck on his motorcyle by a drunk driver and killed. This tragedy occurred after I had moved back to California in search of a new occupation, home, and vehicle. After a long and difficult summer, I was finally blessed with the opportunity to move into one of the most affordable 2-bedroom;2-bath apartments I found in Silicon Valley with my father. Not even two weeks later, as the oldest daughter, I had to take on the responsibilities of preparing his burial arrangements. Sadly, I had to raise the money to even cover the costs of my father’s services. However, I never included my own expenses caused by this heartbreakingly painful loss.  These last three months have left me with an abundant number of bills and responsibilities that have become too much to bear. I am reaching out to my family and friends because I am overwhelmed. I did not expect to be in this position, alone.  My plan has remained to return to school pursuing my graduate level degree next August. However, until then, I am in need of the support from those who love and want to continue spreading love.
