Helping with the Road to Recovery! DANNY2.0

Im Dan, I am 31 years old and have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 3 years old. Living with a chronic disease at a young age has been a challenge, but I never have given up or told myself I couldn’t do something because I have extra steps to take than normal. Two years ago I had an eye bleed where I lost sight in my right eye, two days later they found high blood pressure and stage two kidney disease. I went to Wills eye in Philly and had Dr. Fineman work his magic on my eye he got my vision back to 20/40 from not being able to see out of it. After following doctors instructions 13 months later I went from stage 2 to stage 5 and had to start peritoneal dialysis. After starting to get clearances for my transplant I had a stress test completed. They thought it was a false positive on the test so they scheduled a cardiac cath. While doing the cath they found 3 narrowings in the arteries around my heart, so they set another procedure up and three stents were placed in my heart to help prevent me from having a heart attack. Next I have to get clearance from a dental surgeon to have my wisdom teeth all removed and any others that have any chance of causing an infection removed before transplant can take place. I’m recently engaged and would like to be around to live our life together. My fiancé, who is also a type 1 diabetic, has been by my side through all of these road blocks and hurdles. With her support and support of my mother, my father,my family and friends I have stayed positive and remained hopeful. I’d like to Thank everyone ahead of time for all your support and prayers. They are much appreciated and helpful with keeping a positive attitude with all the struggles and hardships of this process. I’m going to be out of work for at least three months after the surgery so this will also help with bills, appointments and insurance during that time out. I am also still looking for a match for a live donor my blood type is O so my match must be O positive or negative doesn’t matter. Then they do a tissue match to see if a transplant is possible. A live donor may mean the world for me and a life without all these meds, treatments and hooking up to a machine every night. If anyone wants to be checked you can go to the live donor website for Geisinger and enter your info. You can put my name in the recipient part and after testing they will tell us what percentage match we would be. Please pass the word along I’m hoping social media can get my story out to the world. Good things happen to good people. SHARE SHARE SHARE
