Helping with Samantha's Final Expenses

The moment we knew was coming when Samantha was diagnosed back in August 2019 finally came early on Christmas Morning when she lost her battle with Brain Cancer.

We are doing this gofundme to help cover Samantha's assorted final expenses and arrangements. Per Samantha's request, we will be doing an Irish Wake catered by DiBruno Bros. in Philadelphia once the COVID-19 situation allows, proof of vaccination required. In the spirit of her wanting to go lots of places and do lots of things, so will her ashes. Parts of her ashes will go to one of her favorite spots in New York City, Arizona where she grew up, Philly because it became our second home when Josephine went to CHOP, Cape Cod where we loved to go on vacation, and finally, a portion will be shot into space where she will be able to look down upon all of us until the capsule re-enters earth's atmosphere and burns up like a shooting star.

I promised Samantha before she died that no matter what, Josephine would know who her mother was. To that end, Jo and I will (again, once covid calms down) be traveling the country to spread her ashes and for a series of listening sessions so Jo can hear all of her mother's friends tell her stories about the kind of person that her mom was.

Josephine and I don't have the words for the gigantic hole that now exists in our lives. While right now it is filled with sadness, Jo and I will make sure to fill it with laughs, love, and the kind of lives that Samantha would be proud of.
