Hello my name is miriam and as some of you all may know both my parents have been diagnosed with cancer. It goes back to January when my father was told his lymphoma cancer came back, my world came crashing down. Soon after his diagnosis and getting his treatment together with his doctor, my mothers arm broke and was taken to the ER where they determined that the cause of that broken arm was due to kidney cancer that spread to her arm bone and neck, It was hard to believe that both my parents are going through this horrible disease and until this day it’s been hard. I never imagined something like

this could happen to them and at the same time. Due to my father being hospitalized to receive his chemotherapy treatment And both having multiple appointments I decided to stick by their sides and file for FMLA, my mom doesn’t work and my dad had to be on FMLA as well. With the grace of God they are both in treatments including hospitalization stays for chemotherapy for my father after his first chemotherapy wasn’t a success and now on another treatment to fight the cancer and as for my mother, she is doing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. So most of their treatments aren’t covered by their insurance and the last thing I want them to be worried about is their medical bills.


Hola, mi nombre es miriam y, como algunos de ustedes sabrán, mis padres han sido diagnosticados con cáncer. Se remonta a enero, cuando le dijeron a mi padre que su cáncer de linfoma había regresado, mi mundo se derrumbó. Poco después de su diagnóstico y de recibir tratamiento junto con su médico, el brazo de mi madre se rompió y la llevaron a la sala de emergencias donde determinaron que la causa de ese brazo roto se debió a un cáncer de riñón que se extendió al hueso del brazo y al cuello. Fue difícil. creer que mis dos padres están pasando por esta horrible enfermedad y hasta el día de hoy ha sido difícil. nunca imagine algo asi esto les podría pasar a ellos y al mismo tiempo. Debido a que mi padre estaba hospitalizado para recibir su tratamiento de quimioterapia y ambos tenían múltiples citas, decidí quedarme a su lado y solicitar FMLA, mi madre no trabaja y mi padre también tenía que estar en FMLA. Con la gracia de Dios ambos están en tratamientos incluyendo estancias de hospitalización por quimioterapia para mi padre después de que su primera quimioterapia no fue un éxito y ahora en otro tratamiento para combatir el cáncer y en cuanto a mi madre, ella está haciendo tratamientos de quimioterapia y radiación. Por lo tanto, la mayoría de sus tratamientos no están cubiertos por su seguro y lo último que quiero que les preocupe son sus facturas médicas.
