Helping Whitney Recover
Donation protected
In the fall of 2021, Whitney Clark of Sarasota, Florida, turned to bariatric surgery to improve her health and wellness after trying several weight loss methods to no avail. Though her surgery was a success, she immediately experienced painful and debilitating side effects like uncontrolled vomiting and gastrointestinal pressure. Three months later, she’s been mostly unable to eat solid foods since her surgery, is bedridden, and is currently aided by a feeding tube. Whitney has spent more than a month admitted to various hospitals, visited emergency rooms eight times, and been through numerous tests to pinpoint the source of what’s causing her body to reject solid food. Physicians are still working toward that prognosis, but sadly Whitney has lost most control of her legs due to atrophy and nutrient deficiencies. She can now not work, drive, or live an everyday life - let alone begin to recover.
Recently her case has gotten much-needed attention, and she’s working with an award-winning bariatric doctor in Sarasota. He has recommended physical therapy to begin her journey of muscle recovery - but Whitney's medical insurance doesn’t cover the required therapists and nutritionists. Along the way, she has exhausted all of her savings and any benefits available to her. While she is the one who usually helps others, she is now reaching out to others for financial support to take this next step in her long road to recovery.
