Mom's legacy:Help Siblings Through Loss

Our family is going through a challenging time, and I'm reaching out to our incredible community for support. Currently, I'm navigating the complexities of a highly competitive housing market, all while facing the urgent need for a new accessible vehicle for my brother.

I'm currently the sole financial supporter for myself and my siblings, which has been a tough journey, especially with the added responsibility of caring for our brother. There are days when I put in 12 hours of work to ensure my sister can provide our brother with the 24-hour care he needs. All the while still trying to navigate getting more benefits and financial support for my brother’s care. As the holidays approach, work will slow down, making the beginning of the year a critical period.

Our living situation is increasingly difficult as our temporary housing isn't accessible. I've reached out to various organizations, but many have year-long waitlists, and the costs of housing applications and credit checks are adding up. It's crucial that we find a new place soon. While our extended family has been incredibly supportive, helping with certain bills, they've reached a point where it's becoming financially hard on them as well.

We're in need of additional assistance to secure a more suitable home and provide the necessary accessibility for my brother. I'm doing my best to navigate these challenges, but I can't do it alone.

My mom is the trees in the sky above smiling at all of us now. Her life was such a big force in my life and our Maya community. As the days go by the grief sometimes feels like it gets bigger knowing that I held my Mom’s hand for last time. However,I am looking for support and hope more than ever now. Since my family is stuck in a very difficult place. As we are now focusing on how to rearrange our whole life to make sure our family is stable after this very sudden and unexpected loss. I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to share some tough news that has been really difficult for me. As many of you know, my Mom has always been there for me and my siblings. Now its our turn to show up fo her. A sudden difficult illness has caused her to start intensive treatment to address her health condition. As a result, she will be unable to work during this challenging period. We want to ensure that her focus remains solely on her recovery and that financial worries do not add to her burden.

As you can imagine, this puts a lot of responsibility on my sister and me. We'll be taking care of our younger siblings, managing all the expenses, and making sure our sibling with special needs gets to their 24-hour care as well. It's a big challenge, but we're determined to make it work.

Financially, things are going to be tight for us, and any help you can provide would mean the world to us. Your act of kindness and solidarity will not only provide vital assistance but also convey a powerful message of hope, reminding our mother and our entire family that they are surrounded by a caring community.
