Helping us rebuild our lives after a home fire

At 1:45 am on Saturday, January 15th, the vacant apartment complex behind our home caught on fire. The heavy winds carried hot embers over to the neighboring homes. By the grace of God, my family became aware of the raining embers and quickly alerted the neighbors of the burning homes. Many families left quickly, but my family stayed behind to help salvage their home of 28 years. My neighbor filled buckets of water and ran them 3 houses down to us. My father climbed on the roof of the house and fought the fire with the water hose. My siblings scattered the cars to safety around the neighborhood. Despite their best efforts, our home quickly became overwhelmed by the flames. As we transported the children 5 minutes away to safety, our four dogs stayed behind. By the time we returned the flames had engulfed our home. We quickly alerted the firefighters, and they were able to get them out and begin to administer oxygen to them as they had inhaled too much smoke. We unfortunately lost our beloved 2-month-old shepherd puppy, Oso. His sister Pulga was fighting for her life. All three dogs were quickly taken to Veterinary Emergency Group where they received phenomenal care. They stayed hospitalized for 12 hours with tubes in their noses receiving oxygen directly to their lungs. The little one was placed in an oxygen chamber. We had to wait and see if they would recover. Thankfully, they responded great to the care they were given and were able to be discharged. My mom, dad, 2 sisters, 2 nephews, and niece are all trying to stay positive and rebuild 28 years worth. We really appreciate any and all support. At rock bottom, anything and everything helps.
