I recently decided it is time to get on disability. I am unable to keep up fully with my work. As I go through new treatments I'm afraid I will be able to do even less. I also need to spend my time on things other than work.
I can't convey how much I hate asking for money. I am looking at all avenues to supplement our income for the time period that we will be short.
I should have no problem getting approved as MBC is automatically approved under "compassionate allowance" but no matter what I do there is at least a 5 month waiting period before payments.
I'm working on other ways to keep us afloat during this time but I may need help from others.
In no way am I expecting to meet this goal, but it is the approximate amount we will have lost by me not earning my full paycheck for 5 months. I added a little more because I believe the month before applying and the month after will also be short due to various rules in the SSDI plan.
I also cannot express how much this sucks. I love my job and those I work with. I love the family I work for. I love doing what I've spent the last 20 years doing and using all that knowledge day to day.
I'll continue to pray there will be major advancement in treatments and I can go back to work. Maybe even full time in person one day! However, right now it isn't possible without stressing me out, failing my boss and failing my family.
If you can donate, I would appreciate it. If you cannot, please pray for me and my family.
Side note is I will continue to work a little as I can earn a certain amount and still collect disability. So all is not lost. It will now just be a manageable amount.
But that allowable amount is no where close to what we need to make ends meets.
