Helping Us Become Parents with IVF
Donation protected
Hello!
This is mostly for our friends and family that are willing to help out
As many of you know, my wife and I have been trying to get pregnant since October 2023. After many ups and downs through donors and testing, we have landed at IVF with donor sperm. As most know, this is a very expensive process. We are fortunate enough that our insurance covers IVF and my wife's employer reimburses our donor sperm at about 60%. We just have to pay upfront, and my doctor only expects us to need to do this one time. This still leaves a lot of money to be paid, and we need help with it.
Below is a breakdown of how I arrived at the total:
$1,495 for 1 vial of donor sperm (this is not including shipping and storage)
$1,725 for embryo freezing of all healthy embryos (required by my doctor to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation)
$2,750 for the amount owed to our clinic after insurance
$160 for 2 months of embryo storage (this is a low estimate; the quote was $80/month/embryo, and my doctor expects 4-5 embryos with 6-8 weeks of storage before transferring just 1 of them. We would have to store the rest until they're ready to be used, which would either be our next cycle if the first is unsuccessful, or the next time we want to get pregnant.)
$70 for medications (I truly have no idea how much my medications will cost. I know it will be significantly more than I paid for my last IUI cycle, and I paid about $45 for that, so I just rounded the total up to an even number as an estimate)
Not included because I don't have a total yet:
- Anesthesia for my egg retrieval
- Genetic testing for the embryos; it is optional and expensive, and my doctor doesn't think it is necessary due to my age.
Anything at all helps a lot and sets us up for a better future when this child is here. Anyone who has ever met me knows there is nothing on this planet I want more than being a mom. Thank you for helping us get there.
