Indie Game Academy (IGA) is a global community dedicated to helping independent game developers turn their ideas into successful games and sustainable studios. Through educational programs, mentorship, live events, networking opportunities, and ongoing community support, we've helped thousands of developers learn, collaborate, and take meaningful steps toward achieving their goals in the games industry.

At the heart of IGA is the belief that game development doesn't have to be a journey taken alone. Our community is built on collaboration, generosity, and people lifting each other up—values that have shaped everything we've done since day one.

One of the people who embodies those values more than anyone is Ulises.

For the past four years, Ulises has served as IGA's Chief of Marketing and has been an integral part of our growth. He has devoted countless hours to helping developers discover our programs, building our community, organizing initiatives, supporting our members, and creating a welcoming place for indie developers around the world.

His commitment has always gone far beyond his role. During financially challenging periods for IGA, Ulises continued contributing his time and expertise -even without pay - because he believed deeply in our mission and in the people who make this community so special.

Today, he needs our help.

The Situation

The recent devastating earthquakes in Venezuela have had a profound impact on Ulises and his family. He, his wife, and their child have been displaced from their home, which is currently uninhabitable, and they have no clear timeline for when they'll be able to return or establish stable housing again.

During the disaster, they narrowly escaped losing their beloved pets and are now making daily trips back to their home whenever it's safe to recover essential belongings. Like so many families affected by the earthquakes, they are navigating uncertainty while trying to rebuild their lives one day at a time.

Amidst all of this uncertainty, they also received wonderful news: Ulises and his wife are expecting their second child. While this was an unexpected surprise, it has been an incredibly welcome blessing for their family. As they prepare to welcome a new baby into the world, they're also facing the uncertainty of rebuilding their home and creating a stable environment for their growing family.

We're raising funds to help ease the immediate financial burden of temporary living arrangements, transportation, replacing essential belongings, and the many unexpected costs that come with recovering from a disaster.

Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping Ulises and his family regain stability during this incredibly difficult time.

The Details

This GoFundMe is being managed by Jess Rowley and Willem Delventhal, CEO. Due to the restrictions of how to share funds with certain countries - Venezuela being one of these - all funding will be collected by Jess and Willem and will be distributed via preferred payout methods that have been used in the past for successful bank transfers. As a contractor, Ulises has been paid on a monthly basis using platforms such as Wise, Paypal, Western Union, etc. The IGA team is happy to share details of payouts when applicable to ensure the trust of our generous community is maintained and that ALL funds donated go directly towards relief.
