Helping Towards Jazlynn & Abigail’s Recovery
Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this humble request for help. On July 20, 2021 my family, which included my sister Erica’s family and our parents were visiting my younger sister Kristina; in Waxahachie, Texas. Waxahachie is a small town just south of Dallas. The day prior to their return home, my two nieces went on a ride on their ATV when a joyride quickly turned into a nightmare. We have not taken time to investigate the accident or to fully understand how it happened, but what we do know is that my two nieces, Jazlynn (12yr old) and Abigail (11yr old), were ejected from the ATV they were riding and slammed into a brick wall. They both suffered serious injuries. Abigail (aka Abby) was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and Jazlynn (aka Jazzy), due to her life-threatening injuries, had to be air lifted to the nearest trauma center.
Jazzy had more severe injuries that required multiple emergency surgeries. She has just been released from the ICU but is slowly and steadily recovering with the will of God. Jazzy was on a ventilator for 11 days before the doctors decided it was okay for her to be taken off to commence her journey to a long recovery. Jazzy had some neurological injuries that affected the part of the brain that sends the signals to the motors that move certain parts of the body, which also affect her responsiveness. We won’t know the extent of her neurological injuries until she is completely off the strong medication she is currently on. Due to the severity of her injuries; she broke all her ribs on her right side, injured her lung, suffered broken vertebrae and some bones on the bottom of her spine. She is currently conducting physical therapy and occupational therapy to help her attempt to relearn some of the basics of life that you and I learned once as a child. Jazzy still has an uphill battle with all her injuries.
Abigail suffered from injuries to the head and abdomen area, while I’m happy to share that after being hospitalized about a week, Abby has been released since from the hospital. She will have to attend follow up exams, therapy, and more importantly counseling. Although Abby was unconscious briefly when accident occurred, she eventually awoke at the scene of the accident, so she remembers vaguely how everything happened. She heard the screams, tears, panic in all our family as they watched helplessly all the emergency staff assess the tragedy that just took place. She replays this over and over and struggles with the idea of what they could have done differently to prevent this.
We are confident that with faith in God, he will heal all her injuries. We pray that one day this will all be part of a bad dream that they don’t remember. Thank you for your taking the time to read this, and we hope that you find it in your heart to donate to these very special ladies in our lives. Your generous donation will help these young ladies with the ongoing physical therapies and medical expenses.
