Helping Tom Bothwell

Donation protected
On the morning of Friday, October 16, 2020, the life of my friend Tom Bothwell took a sudden and dramatic turn when he was struck by a car.  He was hit while crossing the street on his daily walk. Tom was revived at the scene by passerby Jamie Granquist who performed CPR before medics arrived. Tom almost lost his life, and is now in an Intensive Care Unit in a Lincoln, Nebraska hospital.

A Lincoln native, Tom is one of the most caring and loyal people you could ever know.  He was an only child, adopted by his parents when he was a young boy.  He idolized his father, a WW II veteran.  When his father passed, Tom moved home to care for his elderly mother.  He took care of his mom for the last few years of her life, being with her 24/7/365.  Even though his mom was failing mentally and physically, Tom was there for her, bathing her, feeding her, lifting her in and out of her bed.

A 1973 graduate of Lincoln East High, Tom was one of the best high school football players in the state.  He would have played in college, if not for a career ending injury.  He was also a member of the 1970 East High State Championship basketball team, famous for the “miracle on Vine Street” at the state tournament.

Due to injuries from his football days at East High, Tom has been on disability for the past few years, having both shoulders replaced. This fundraiser will help Tom with his living expenses, medical bills and therapy as he continues his rehabilitation and recovery at Madonna in Lincoln.

Tom is fighting the fight of his life, literally.  Tom cares deeply about his friends and loved ones. Now he needs a hand up.  He needs us.  Please donate.

Thank you for your consideration.
