Helping to rebuild Jamaica

Donation protected
My name is Tasha, I live in the UK, but I was born and raised in southern Trelawny, Jamaica, where I spent my childhood before migrating to London at the age of 18, now recently turned 26, and like many in the Jamaican diaspora, the recent events back home have left me feeling heartbroken, uncertain, and deeply worried for my family and community. I am now using my skills as an advocate to help rebuild what my community and those closest to me have lost.

I am reaching out with a humble heart to ask for your support in helping my family and community rebuild after the devastating hurricane that recently struck Jamaica.

I have two older brothers, one lives in Montego Bay and the other in Hanover, these are among the few parishes that felt most of the devastation of hurricane Melissa. My brother in Montego Bay has lost everything inside his home. He had just finished furnishing the house he spent his life savings to build, and now he’s left with only the walls standing. My eldest brother in Hanover suffered an even greater loss, his home was completely destroyed, only the foundation remains of what he once called home.

I’m raising funds to help them rebuild their lives and regain a sense of stability and hope. These aren’t just houses, they represent years of hard work, sacrifice, and dreams built from the ground up.

At the same time, my heart aches for my extended family who lives in Warsop, Allside and the surrounding communities located in southern Trelawny. Allside and Warsop is my home, this is where I grew up until the age of 18, it too was greatly damaged during the hurricane, leaving quite a few of my family members without roofs over their heads. I want to do my part to help and ensure that they don’t become homeless, knowing the financial strain this hurricane has caused. I want to bring back a sense of normalcy, hope, and reassurance that we are rebuilding our community and Jamaica, slowly but surely.

Your donations will go toward:
1. Helping my brothers rebuild and replace what was lost.

2. Supporting the my wider family to purchase essentials such as zincs to repair roofs, tarpaulins and any other materials needed.

No contribution is too small, every act of kindness will make a lasting difference for my family and my community in Southern Trelawny.

Thank you for reading our story, for sharing it, and for standing with us as we work to rebuild lives and restore hope in Jamaica.
