Helping to save Matt's vision

In August 2015, Matt underwent his first of 11 surgeries to try and restore damage to his retina and cornea.  Since that point, he has lost his left eye because of no success from previous procedures.  He had a prosthetic eye put in August 2018.  Over the last two months, Matt began experiencing the same types of challenges in his right eye.  He has currently had three procedures to attempt to restore vision.  This has taken a physical, emotional, and occupational toll on him and our entire family.

In our quest to ensure he receives the best treatment and care possible, he will continue to work with experts at the Midwest Eye Institute and the Will's Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.  While we have excellent health insurance, we are accruing significant charges around travel to and from medical facilities, loss of secondary income (i.e. coaching tennis), and having to spend more to find supplemental support for his current around the clock needs.

Matt is never the person that would ask for help.  In fact, invulnerability is one of his greatest vices.  While he is doing all that he can to protect his mental health and practice self-care, the financial concerns and worrying about his ability to provide for his family take a deep toll on his heart.  These funds would be tremendously helpful to relieve some of his burden and to allow him to focus solely on recovery, exploring new medical opportunities, and being present in the moment with his family and friends.
