Hi my name is Thea, and along with my sister Annette and brother Johan, are priviledged to have the most wonderful dad in Hendrick Bezuidenhout (Hennie). With my incredible Mom, Sussie, they have both shown us what true resilience looks like over their 50 year marriage . They have faced so many challenges in their lives with positivity, a sense of humour and, most importantly their strong faith. They have 6 grandchildren for whom they live and are adored by and a special circle of friends in Chegutu, Zimbabwe where they live as well as much loved family in South Africa.

On Friday 16th July our family got the news of his latest challenge... CT scans, blood tests and a colonoscopy have shown Dad to have stage 4 cancer! His Colon cancer has rooted on to his prostate and mestastisized to his liver and lungs. The treatment is 6 months of chemotherapy to be administered every 2 weeks through a port which has been surgically inserted (see picture) and the hope is to shrink the lesions sufficiently to allow further treatment including the possibility of surgery to remove his colon and provide a colostomy bag.

My parents have paid for medical aid their whole lives and have a reasonable cover and thank God for access to a great oncologist, Dr Sekai as well as excellent treatment and hospital facilities. However, there are always significant shortfalls (example in photo) and we know there is a long road ahead so expecting to need to find thousands of US$ in the coming months.

As always Dad has faced into this with positivity and humour, always prepared to see the best and keeping the rest of us in hope and laughter. It would mean so much to our family if you could help support us through any donation if you can and prayer if you can't.
