Please help a Shepherd and his sheep in The Gambia
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Stuart.
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to look at and consider this funding request. There are many many deserving causes worldwide, and I am grateful you have viewed this one. This cause will provide a shepherd with food and medications for his flock of sheep.
I am raising funds to help a friend in The Gambia in West Africa called Abdoulie (known as “Ablie”) Jadema.
Ablie lives in the town of Bakau, which is on the coast of The Gambia. He is 24 years of age. Since he was 18, Ablie has cared for a flock of sheep he owns and cares for. I got to know and became friends with him while working as a trainee waiter. Since then, I have become friends with his uncles, aunts and grandmother and always spend time with them when I am on outreach work in that country. I have been “adopted” by the family, and I want to try and return some of the hospitality they have shown me through your help.
Ablie’s sheep are supported in food and medication by him undertaking work as and when he can. Employment is difficult to obtain and retain in The Gambia and it has been negatively affected by the downturn in the tourist numbers visiting the country. This means he often struggles to pay for sufficient food for them and they have to forage at the roadside. This has created problems and he has already lost two sheep through them eating discarded plastic they have found.
Ablie has also lost a sheep this year after it was knocked down on one of the narrow dirt roads where he lives. The driver did not stop. He has since tried to build a sheep pen in the area of his grandmother’s home. It is a place of safety, but it is
very rudimentary.
It is said that “a good shepherd cares for his sheep”. Would you please consider donating to my GoFundMe, which will enable Ablie to provide better shelter for his flock and ensure that he has the money to pay for their food, medication and care?
With grateful thanks
Stuart
