Helping the Sharp family with medical bills

We have all in our lives experienced downs and ups as a result, we have learned that tomorrow is not a guarantee. Can you imagine going through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and even the use of a defibrillator then having to come home and facing the fact that even having survived almost a decade of this, the reality of medical bills looming? This family, Paul and Cathy Sharp they have seen this firsthand. Cathy, an educator in the state of Texas, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. After undergoing several major surgeries, varying forms of chemotherapy, and radiation treatments she began to experience issues, Lymphedema. From this, she had several Lymph nodes placed throughout her body and during a follow-up with MD Anderson, she was informed of an abnormality. Several rounds of testing later and she was told of her third cancer diagnosis, stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Of course, as a family giving up is not an option, but on average treatment can run anywhere from $20K to $100K. In this case though with Cathy’s extensive medical background, it does not allow for typical treatment as an option and she currently is prescribed two medications that cost $20K a month.
Also, Paul himself is experiencing health issues that have affected them financially and just the basic comfort of being around loved ones. Recently he had a massive heart attack which resulted in the Brazos County EMS shocking him several times to stabilize him. While still awake the feeling of the jolt of electricity running through his body as he was rushed into the hospital where he remains in the ICU. Although this was not his first heart issue being originally diagnosed with a bicuspid artery nearly a decade ago; it was described as an extremely painful and fearful moment. Already having open heart surgery with stints placed he was required to go through another round of surgery where a permanent defibrillator was placed along with a pacemaker.
Thinking that they would have just a moment of relief, the unexpected happened and their beloved, faithful dog Clara Bell when into early labor. Having rushed the poor dog to Texas A&M vet she had experienced a ruptured uterus and unfortunately, only one puppy has survived.
Even through it all, the family continues to hold their faith, thankful that they can wake up and continue to be productive members. While forced to take intermediate leaves of absences due to medical issues, Cathy has continued to educate the youth even with the pandemic. Please keep in mind that while they have stabilized the medical issues, for now, treatment will continue for both Paul, Cathy, and Clara Bell.
