When my family moved to Jacksonville in the 4th grade, Tracy was the first person I met. We grew up a few houses apart and never imagined something like this could happen. When the fire hit, it left his family of six in a situation they never expected — suddenly displaced and having to ask for help.

The support over the past few days has shown how much this family is loved. They’re staying positive, focusing on gratitude, and most importantly — everyone is safe. The Red Cross stepped in immediately with short-term assistance for hotel lodging and basic essentials, and they are deeply grateful for that support.

But the reality is this: the fire destroyed everything inside the home and none of it was insured. Cleanup, demolition, and rebuilding will be completely out of pocket, and the costs are significant — especially with four children, the youngest being just 8 and 6 years old.

Raising the goal isn’t about replacing every sentimental item — it’s about giving this family a fighting chance to rebuild a home and restore stability for their kids.

Not everyone can donate, and that’s completely understood. Sharing their story, offering encouragement, providing household basics, or simply checking in makes a real difference. To everyone who has helped so far — thank you. Your kindness has carried them through the hardest week of their lives.
