Helping the Nash Family Catch Their Breath

Their Breath

Hi, I’m Chris — Jamie’s older sister. I’m setting this up because if you know the Nash family, you know they’re usually the ones helping everyone else. But after the year they’ve had, it’s time their village gets a chance to help them — and honestly, that village has already been showing up in countless ways.

This past spring, Jamie was helping our dad while he was in the hospital and rehab center. Around that same time, little Ollie had surgery for craniosynostosis. He handled it like a champ — cracking jokes before anesthesia even kicked in — but recovery and medical bills still hit hard.

Then came Jamie’s turn. First, she broke her arm. A few months later, she blew out her knee and tore cartilage while dancing at a wedding (she calls it “the washing machine dance”). Through it all, she’s kept working at her preschool, raising four kids, and laughing through the chaos — with Bryce right beside her, doing what he always does: fixing, hauling, supporting, and somehow staying calm… mostly. Ava has stepped up too, helping with her little brothers and keeping things running when her mom’s down a limb or two.

And just when things finally started to calm down… their house caught fire.
Thankfully, no one was home, the fire put itself out, and all the pets are safe. The damage upstairs left soot and smoke through bedrooms and belongings — the kind of mess insurance doesn’t always cover but takes hours to clean up. They were lucky to only be out of the house for one night, but it’s still been a huge job on top of everything else.

Through it all, their village has shown up. Friends brought dinners, washed bedding, helped with the boys, and cheered them on when exhaustion hit. It’s been humbling and beautiful to see.

And it’s no surprise people show up for them. Just a few weeks before the fire, Jamie washed a stranger’s laundry because a single mom’s washer broke. A Facebook group she’s part of put out a “rescue mission,” and she didn’t hesitate. That’s who Jamie is — she gives, no questions asked.

I know this family. They’ve bought plane tickets for others when someone couldn’t afford to go, filled fridges with groceries, played secret Santa for families in need, and covered other kids’ sports fees when they had a little extra. They give when they can — and sometimes even when they can’t.

Now, it’s their turn to receive that same love and support.

The Nashes have great medical insurance, but between Ollie’s surgery, repair costs, and time missed from work, things have gotten tight. This GoFundMe isn’t about tragedy — it’s about helping a family who’s been through a string of hard hits catch their breath and keep moving forward.

If you’ve ever laughed at one of Jamie’s stories, been on the receiving end of her help, or just believe in paying kindness forward — this is your chance.

Every bit helps, and every kind word means the world.

With love,
Chris
