Helping the Mercer Siblings Find Stability

Hi there. We are Stacey Evoy and Dania Parker Smith, friends of the Mercer, Simpson and Morand families.

In the span of just six months, this family’s world has been completely turned upside down.

In early January 2026, their Mom, Jennifer, 55, was admitted into long-term care following a prolonged hospital stay. She was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening neurological seizure disorder that resulted in brain damage and the loss of her ability to live independently.

Only days later, on January 11, 2026, tragedy struck again.

Brian Mercer—husband, 61, father of three, and the primary provider for his family (and the nicest man)—was involved in a sudden and devastating accident that has left him paralyzed. He now faces a very long and uncertain journey of rehabilitation and recovery and is unable to return to the family home.

In a matter of weeks, three young adults have lost both parents as the guiding forces in their lives—emotionally, physically, and financially.

All three are navigating profound grief while trying to process medical realities, financial implications, long-term care decisions, and an entirely new future they never imagined.

This fundraiser exists to provide stability during the crisis her family finds itself in.

The goal is to raise funds to create a 12-month stabilization runway—helping cover essential household costs such as the mortgage and utilities, so the siblings can remain in their family home while longer-term plans are established.

This support will reduce immediate financial pressure and give these young adults the time and space they need to grieve, stabilize, and begin building a path forward—without the added trauma of losing their family home.

No one in their twenties should have to face the loss of both parents as the foundation for their future.

If you are able to give, please know that your generosity helps provide something invaluable right now: time, stability, and the chance for three young adults to rebuild their lives. If you are unable to give, sharing this campaign is also a powerful way to help.

Thank you for coming alongside this family when they need it most.
